The Indian community of Trinidad mourns the death of singer Lata Mangeshkar

The entire Indian community of Trinidad and Tobago mourned the passing of famous Hindi singer Lata Mangeshkar. Opposition leader Kamla Persad Bissessar also shared a heartfelt message on her Facebook account, acknowledging the “Nightingale of India”.

Kamla Persad wrote, “I am saddened to learn of the passing of legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar. Her music has touched millions around the world, including myself. Nightingale’s love music will live on for generations to come. Condolences to family and friends in this time of mourning.”

Hundreds of people in Trinidad and Tobago and around the world have been devastated after the death of Lata Mangeshkar, known as India’s most influential and polished singer.

Mangeshkar died of multiple organ failure at a Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday, February 6, 2022. She was hospitalized for 28 days and died at the age of 92.

Trinidad and Tobago has one of the largest Indian and Hindu populations in the Caribbean and West Indies. Mangeshkar was a big name as a playback singer in lavish Bollywood musicals in India. She sang songs that the actors then listened to when they were in the movies. There were many people who called her the “Melody Queen” and “Nightingale of India”.

Many people in Trinidad and Tobago took to social media and shared a message for Lata Mangeshkar. A user named Dahlia Mohammed wrote“So sad but her life was well lived with her gift from God which she devoted entirely to her music. May she rest in peace now; her legacy will be enjoyed with deep emotion and passion for many generations coming “.

Another user named Myna Ramroop wrote, “She became the nightingale of Indian songs in her lifetime, now she sings with, and for God and angels, may Bhagwan Krishna receive his soul in his loving arms, Om Sadgati, Om Shanti “.
