MoS Lekhi interacts with the Indian community in Panama and joins the garba dance at the Hindu temple

Panama City/New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi, who is on an official visit to Panama, interacted with the Indian community in the country’s capital and also visited a Hindu temple and participated at a garba dance there. In tweets, MoS Lekhi said the Indian community in Panama plays an important role in Panamanian society and economy. There are approximately 14,000 Indians living in this Latin American and Caribbean country. “Nice to meet and interact with the Indian community in Panama. Thanked Government Minister Ms Janaina Tewaney Mencomo @JanainaGob of Indian origin for joining. The Indian community in Panama has played and continues to play an important role in Panamanian society and economy. During her visit to the Hindu temple, she said, “We were warmly welcomed at the Hindu temple in Panama. Honored to be the first minister to visit the temple, built in 1979. Planted a sapling near the temple. Glad that the Indian community that came to Panama decades ago kept their philosophy and culture. “I shared wonderful moments with the Hindu temple ladies and joined them in a traditional Garba show.” She also participated in an International Yoga Day event there. “Great start to the day with a curtain raiser for International Yoga Day 2022 at Cinta Costera, Panama City. Thanks to Minister of Culture @gisygonzalez and Vice Ministers of Foreign Affairs for their participation. Glad to see the enthusiasm local yoga enthusiasts. 52 days to #IDY2022.
