External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with members of the Indian community on Sunday and shared with them the developments in the country and the state of bilateral relations.

“Nice to meet the Indian community in Prague. Good to see many of them doing so well. The expansion of the community has also been encouraging. state of our bilateral relations. Count on their continued support,” Mr. Jaishankar tweeted.

The Foreign Minister arrived in Prague on June 4, 2022 from the Slovak capital Bratislava.

On June 5, Jaishanakar met with the Czech Minister of Finance. The Czech Republic will take over the EU Presidency from 1 July.

Nearly 5,000 Indian nationals, mainly IT professionals, business people and students, reside in the Czech Republic. There are several informal associations of Indians/people of Indian origin, which organize community events in conjunction with the Embassy, ​​according to official figures.

His visit comes at a time when Europe is grappling with the implications of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and persistent efforts by European countries to convince India to take a tougher stance on Moscow for its actions.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement before his departure that Mr Jaishankar’s talks of will with his Czech counterpart will provide an opportunity for a “comprehensive review of our bilateral cooperation”.
